It’s about time I became an Aunt! And, man, are we excited for it.
A couple months ago, during the Christmas holiday season, my sister and brother in-law decided to give my parents an “early Christmas gift”. The whole family happened to be together that day(which is sometimes hard to do), and we were all conveniently located in the family room, in our comfy seated positions, not anticipating what was about to happen… at all. Both of my parents held a gift bag and were told to open at the same time. On the count of three they started digging, my dad intentionally taking a head start. But it was my Mom who started putting the pieces together when she saw little tiny shoes in the bottom of her bag. She looked at my sister with wide eyes. Then my Dad found what my Mom had seen. “Are you…?” she started to say before everyone else in the room started to see what was really happening. “Are you pregnant?!”
And the room erupted with screaming. It was ear splitting. But I, for one, most-definitely contributed to the noise level, and for that I apologize to my family members. Doug couldn’t wipe the smile and shock off of his face, when he realized would get to be an uncle. My tears streamed down my face and I wanted to hug my sister forever. I’m so happy for them and I cannot wait to see them be the amazing parents we all know they will be!
Recently, they revealed the gender of the baby in the cutest way. We all got together once again, the anticipation slowly killing us all as we waited for each member of the family to arrive. Delicious cupcakes were baked with a colorful cream filling that would dictate our future of buying pink tutu’s and pretty dresses or batman shoes and playing in the mud. I was all team Boy because of two dreams that I had (clearly dubbing me the family psychic. ;) And my dad couldn’t have been a happier Papa to finally have a little boy in the family. Just look at his reaction when we all dug into our cupcakes (again, intentionally taking a head start).
Cupcake-filled mouth and everything. Classic. This one should get framed for sure.
We are so excited to welcome the new addition to the family, and I can’t wait to take some pictures of the little man! You’ll be seeing plenty of him once he makes his debute. ;)
Have a great week!
